"Jazzielou" Necklace
Something most people don’t know about me is that growing up, my grandfather used to call me Jazzielou. He was one of the first people to show me what it looked like to actively keep an art practice that was purely because he loved creating and the peace it brought him. He would create these realistic dioramas of farms, dollhouses, and other wooden scenescapes like that, and sometimes he would give them away for free and for fun—simply for the joy and love of it.
On a whim last year, I made this necklace with the goal of creating a piece that felt nostalgic and like something my inner child would LOVE.I struck gold with this one! Now, it has been a staple in my wardrobe for at least a year, and its name is in honor of my grandfather, the spirit of his artistry, and the reminder and impact his creative practice has had on me and continues to have on me.
